About the Role
The Department of Social Development is seeking a passionate and experienced individual for the role of Director: Youth Development based in Mbombela. What You’ll Do
- Manage and oversee the implementation of youth development policies and sector strategies.
- Develop effective project plans for youth initiatives across government departments.
- Monitor and evaluate youth development projects to ensure alignment with provincial and national goals.
- Facilitate the identification of economic opportunities for unemployed youth and assist in skills development.
- Coordinate support for youth development initiatives, ensuring integration with existing programs.
- Conduct needs analyses to assess the challenges faced by youth in the province.
- Develop a comprehensive database of unemployed youth and their skills for effective resource allocation.
- Lead and manage human, financial, and physical resources within the team to optimize project outcomes.
What You’ll Need
- An appropriate Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced National Diploma in Social Science, Developmental Studies, or a related field (NQF level 7).
- A minimum of five years’ experience at Middle/Senior Management level, particularly in youth development programs.
- Strong strategic capability and leadership skills, with proven people management and empowerment experience.
- Excellent program and project management, planning, and organizing skills.
- Proficient in financial management and knowledgeable about public service prescripts and youth development policy frameworks.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, along with strong report writing and analytical capabilities.
