What You’ll Do
- Review and enhance the data collection and reporting processes in health care facilities.
- Analyze the flow of funds and propose necessary changes to support prospective payment systems.
- Develop ongoing revisions of provider payment systems, including proof-of-concept projects.
- Determine and adopt additional provider payment mechanisms, focusing on capitation for Primary Health Care and Diagnosis Related Groups for hospitals.
- Define cost modeling methodologies and develop a costing manual for healthcare services.
- Communicate pricing information about services, drugs, and consumables to the public and stakeholders involved with the National Health Insurance Fund.
What You’ll Need
- A Grade 12 certificate and an undergraduate qualification (NQF level 7) in Finance, Accounting, Health Economics, or a related field.
- A postgraduate qualification (NQF level 8) in relevant disciplines would be advantageous.
- At least five years of experience in a middle/senior managerial role within Health Economics or Accounting in the health sector.
- Proven experience in conducting quantitative analyses and economic research related to health economic modeling.
- Expert knowledge of Excel and VBA; familiarity with other programming languages like Python, R, and SQL is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a solid understanding of public health policies and legislation.
- A valid driver’s license and willingness to work independently.
