About the Role
The Department of Economic Development and Tourism is seeking a passionate and experienced individual for the position of Director: Local & Regional Economic Development (LRED) based in Bhisho. What You’ll Do
- Develop, review, and implement economic development strategies and frameworks.
- Promote spatial economic growth in alignment with various development priorities.
- Manage and provide technical support to municipalities for planning and implementing economic initiatives.
- Oversee the Local & Regional Economic Development Fund, ensuring effective monitoring and evaluation of funded projects.
- Foster partnerships and facilitate intergovernmental coordination with relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and corporate governance standards.
- Manage departmental resources in line with legislative directives.
What You’ll Need
- National Senior Certificate and an NQF Level 7 qualification in Economics, Development Studies, or a related field.
- A postgraduate qualification in Economic Development or Regional Planning is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience at middle or senior management level.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong knowledge of PFMA, Treasury Regulations, and project management principles.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Advanced computer literacy and report writing capabilities.
