What You’ll Do

  • Lead the development and implementation of library and archival policies.
  • Manage the preservation and accessibility of essential public and non-public records.
  • Oversee the transformation and modernization of libraries and information services.
  • Administer financial support to municipal library services through earmarked allocations.
  • Implement innovative reading and library programs to promote literacy and a culture of reading.
  • Identify and assess needs for library and archives infrastructure improvements.

What You’ll Need

  • Grade 12 Certificate and an undergraduate qualification (NQF level 7) in Archival Studies, Libraries & Information Science, or a relevant field.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior or middle management role, preferably in the library or archival sector.
  • A compulsory Pre-Entry Senior Management Certificate is required prior to assuming duty.
  • Valid driver’s license is necessary for this position.
  • Strong decision-making and project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on report writing.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Constitution of 1996, PFMA, and various acts related to information access and archival services.

Requirements

The successful candidate should have a Grade 12 Certificate plus a undergraduate qualification (NQF level 7) in Archival Studies / Libraries & Information Science or relevant qualification.

A minimum of 5 years’ experience in senior/middle Management level/ Deputy Director in the relevant field.
