About the Role
The Department of Employment and Labour is currently seeking a dedicated Counsellor Grade 1-3 to join its team in Ulundi, KwaZulu-Natal. What You’ll Do
- Provide technical support to labour centres to enhance employment counselling services.
- Manage the referral process of job seekers to relevant employment services and interventions.
- Coordinate the dissemination of vital employment and career information to labour centres.
- Establish and manage relationships between employment counsellors and external organisations.
- Oversee the administration of psychometric assessments.
- Supervise administrative personnel to ensure efficient operations.
What You’ll Need
- A four-year B-Psych degree, Honours degree in Psychology, or Honours degree in Industrial Psychology.
- For Grade 1: 0 years’ experience; Grade 2: 8 years’ experience; Grade 3: 16 years’ experience.
- Registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Psychometrist or Registered Counsellor (Independent practice).
- A valid driver’s licence is required.
- Knowledge of key legislation, including the International Labour Organisation, Public Service Act, and Employment Equity Act.
- Strong skills in planning, communication, computer use, analytical thinking, presentation, interpersonal relations, report writing, leadership, and networking.

Requirements
