What You’ll Do

  • Manage technical services and support activities in collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Promote and ensure adherence to safety standards in all projects.
  • Evaluate and update technical manuals and standard drawings to integrate new technologies.
  • Ensure quality assurance of technical designs and recommend approvals to relevant authorities.
  • Oversee road building material functions and laboratory services.
  • Develop and maintain databases related to engineering projects.
  • Assess pavement conditions and prioritize rehabilitation and resealing projects.
  • Lead road infrastructure projects through all six stages of ECSA.
  • Identify innovative technical solutions using engineering principles.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with industry changes.
  • Conduct research to improve technical engineering expertise.
  • Liaise with relevant bodies on engineering matters and provide inputs for budgeting.
  • Compile and submit comprehensive reports as required.

What You’ll Need

  • National Senior Certificate and a Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering (B Tech).
  • Six years of post-qualification technical experience in road infrastructure.
  • Professional registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Professional Engineering Technologist is mandatory.
  • A valid driver’s license and a willingness to travel extensively.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, Public Service Regulations, and technical manuals.
  • Skills in project management, technical design, and problem-solving.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with computer proficiency.
