What You’ll Do
- Manage technical services in collaboration with engineering teams, ensuring effective project delivery.
- Promote safety in all operations, adhering to statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate and update technical manuals, standard drawings, and procedures to incorporate new technologies.
- Ensure quality assurance of technical designs and specifications, providing recommendations for approval.
- Oversee administrative and human resource functions within the engineering team.
- Contribute to budgeting processes and operational plans, including procurement and related matters.
- Compile and submit necessary reports on engineering activities and progress.
- Address Risk and Disaster Management issues as they arise.
- Engage in continuous professional development and research to stay updated on industry advancements.
- Provide mentorship and supervision to junior personnel and engineering colleagues.
- Liaise with relevant bodies on engineering-related matters and maintain strong professional relationships.
- Be prepared to travel extensively for fieldwork and project execution.
What You’ll Need
- A National Diploma in Civil Engineering.
- Six (6) years of post-qualification technical engineering experience.
- Compulsory registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Professional Engineering Technician.
- A valid unexpired driver’s license.
- Knowledge of technical design and analysis of hydrological infrastructure.
- Familiarity with hydrological data management and research methodologies.
- Proficiency in computer-aided engineering applications.
- Understanding of legal compliance, project management, and technical report writing.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, along with conflict management and negotiation abilities.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on teamwork and creativity.
- Financial management skills and a customer-focused attitude.

Requirements
A National Diploma in Civil Engineering.Six (6) years post qualification technical Engineering experience.
Compulsory registration with Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as an professional Engineering Technician.
The disclosure of a valid unexpired driver’s license.
Knowledge of technical design and analysis of hydrological infrastructure and/or water resource infrastructure.
Knowledge of hydrological data management.
Understanding of research and development.
Knowledge and experience in Computer-aided engineering applications.
Knowledge of legal compliance and Project management.
Technical report writing.
Good communication skills both (verbal and written), conflict management and negotiation skills.

Job Duties
Manage technical services and support in conjunction with Engineers, Technologist and associates in the field, workshop, and technical hydrological activities.Ensure the promotion of safety in line with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Evaluate existing technical manuals, standard drawings, and procedures to incorporate new technology.
Ensure quality assurance of technical designs with specifications and authorize / make recommendations for approval by the relevant authority.
Manage administrative, human resource and related functions.
Provide inputs into the budgeting process, operational plan, procurement plan and related matters.
Compile and submit reports as required.
Attend to Risk and Disaster Management matters.
Research and development through continuous professional development to keep up with new technologies and procedures.
Provide mentorship and supervision of personnel.
Research/literature studies on technical engineering technology to improve expertise.
Liaise with relevant bodies/councils on engineering related matters.
Must be prepared to work away from the office and travel extensively for extended periods of time.
