What You’ll Do

  • Provide high-quality clinical care to patients admitted to the hospital.
  • Manage patient care within a level 2/3 package of services.
  • Assist in developing and implementing clinical guidelines and protocols.
  • Participate in academic and training programs to enhance team knowledge.
  • Conduct clinical audits to improve service delivery standards.
  • Support hospital management in achieving efficient patient care services.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and performance reviews.

What You’ll Need

  • Appropriate qualifications to register as a Medical Specialist in Ophthalmology with the HPCSA.
  • A valid work permit (for non-South Africans).
  • Strong knowledge of medical ethics and multidisciplinary teamwork.
  • Relevant clinical experience based on the grade level (Grade 1: less than 5 years; Grade 2: 5–10 years; Grade 3: over 10 years).
  • Competency in clinical assessment, management, and communication.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure, alongside a diverse team.
  • Skills in teaching and guiding junior staff within the department.
