About the Role
The Department of Social Development is currently seeking a dedicated Child and Youth Care Team Leader Grade 1 to join its team at the JB Marks Treatment Centre in Potchefstroom. This vital role is designed for a compassionate and experienced professional who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and youth. As a Child and Youth Care Team Leader, you will not only supervise Child and Youth Care Workers but also manage their work performance and ensure that the children and youth admitted to the centre receive the care and support they need. This position is integral to enhancing the quality of life for vulnerable youth in our community, contributing to their development and well-being.
In this dynamic role, you will oversee critical aspects such as accessing medical services, implementing developmental programs, and ensuring that daily administrative tasks are completed accurately. What You’ll Do
- Supervise and manage the performance of Child and Youth Care Workers.
- Oversee the admission processes and related activities for children and youth at the facility.
- Ensure access to medical services for children and youth.
- Lead the implementation of planned activities and therapeutic programs.
- Conduct inspections during shifts and report on any incidents or challenges.
- Handle administrative tasks, including maintaining daily registers and logbooks.
- Assist and escort service users within healthcare facilities when necessary.
What You’ll Need
- A minimum of Grade 12 and a Certificate/Diploma at NQF level 4/5/6.
- At least 7 years of experience in Child and Youth Care work after obtaining the required qualification.
- Current registration with the South African Council for Social Services Professionals (SACSSP).
- A valid driver’s license.
- Experience in Secure Care is advantageous.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and handle shift work.
