What You’ll Do

  • Monitor and support municipalities to ensure compliance with SPLUMA and relevant land legislation.
  • Engage in strategic spatial planning at the provincial level, coordinating planning activities across government spheres.
  • Manage allocated resources to meet Directorate objectives and departmental goals.
  • Set and monitor performance standards for your team, taking corrective actions as needed.
  • Control and monitor expenditure in accordance with the budget to ensure efficient financial management.
  • Assist in identifying, analysing, and resolving potential risks related to spatial planning.

What You’ll Need

  • National Senior Certificate and an undergraduate qualification in Town and Regional Planning, Urban and Regional Planning, or Spatial Planning (NQF Level 7) recognized by SAQA.
  • Six years of post-qualification experience in Town and Regional Planning.
  • Compulsory registration with SACPLAN as a professional Town and Regional Planner upon appointment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Three years of middle management experience in Spatial Planning and Land Use Management.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, programme management, and strategic planning.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and team leadership skills.
