What You’ll Do
- Lead and manage the application of town and regional planning principles in land development projects.
- Provide technical assistance to professional teams on various aspects of planning projects.
- Monitor the implementation of development to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
- Develop and manage technical planning standards, norms, and guidelines.
- Interpret planning legislation, guidelines, policies, and regulations.
- Implement spatial planning and land use management tools and systems at the provincial level.
- Allocate and monitor resources effectively while managing risks associated with planning projects.
- Provide governance and technical consulting services to mitigate architectural risks.
- Facilitate knowledge-sharing initiatives to support individual development and operational requirements.
- Engage with external and internal stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and support for departmental programs.
What You’ll Need
- A Grade 12 Certificate and a Bachelor’s Degree in Town and Regional Planning or Urban and Regional Planning.
- Compulsory registration with the South African Council for Planners (SACPLAN) as a Professional Town and Regional Planner upon appointment.
- A minimum of 6 years of post-qualification experience in Town and Regional Planning.
- A valid driver’s licence.
- Strong knowledge of programme and project management principles and legal compliance in town and regional planning.
- Proficiency in research and development practices, as well as computer-aided applications.
- Excellent strategic management, analytical thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage change, negotiate, and resolve conflicts effectively.
- Willingness to travel as required.

Job Duties
Provide town and regional spatial planning future forecasting.Lead and manage the application of town and regional planning principles in land development.
Provide technical assistance to professional teams on all aspects regarding town and regional planning projects.
Monitor the implementation of development in compliance with applicable legislation and town and regional planning standards and guideline.
Manage the compilation and adoption of technical and planning standards, norms and guidelines.
Formulate and interpret planning legislation, guidelines, policies and regulations.
Provide spatial planning and land use management services in liaison with National Office.
Implement tools, systems, guidelines, policies, programmes and legislations for spatial planning and land use management at a provincial level.
Provide governance.
Allocate, monitor and control resources.
Compile risk logs and manage significant risk according to sound risk management practice and organisational requirements.
Provide technical consulting services for the operation of architectural related matters to minimise possible architectural risks.
Manage and implement knowledge sharing initiatives e.
