What You’ll Do
- Provide strategic oversight in the certification and drafting of Bills.
- Offer preliminary legal opinions and legal advisory support during the parliamentary process.
- Scrutinize, draft, and certify subordinate legislation.
- Evaluate international agreements for consistency with the Constitution and domestic law.
- Lead the management and governance of the Office of the Chief State Law Adviser.
- Ensure effective financial management, audit compliance, and resource utilization.
- Oversee the translation and editing of legal documents into official languages.
- Provide authoritative legal opinions on contracts, settlements, and disputes.
What You’ll Need
- An NQF Level 8 qualification in Law or equivalent as recognized by SAQA.
- Admission as an Advocate or Attorney in the High Court of South Africa is essential.
- Extensive knowledge of legislative processes, public law, and government decision-making.
- Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional leadership and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- Proven ability to manage complex legal matters and lead multidisciplinary teams.
