What You’ll Do

• Provide strategic oversight in the certification and drafting of Bills.
• Offer preliminary legal opinions and legal advisory support during the parliamentary process.
• Scrutinize, draft, and certify subordinate legislation.
• Evaluate international agreements for consistency with the Constitution and domestic law.
• Lead the management and governance of the Office of the Chief State Law Adviser.
• Ensure effective financial management, audit compliance, and resource utilization.
• Oversee the translation and editing of legal documents into official languages.
• Provide authoritative legal opinions on contracts, settlements, and disputes.

What You’ll Need

• An NQF Level 8 qualification in Law or equivalent as recognized by SAQA.
• Admission as an Advocate or Attorney in the High Court of South Africa is essential.
• Extensive knowledge of legislative processes, public law, and government decision-making.
• Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional leadership and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
• Proven ability to manage complex legal matters and lead multidisciplinary teams.
