What You’ll Do

  • Enhance pharmacovigilance activities to promote patient safety across the province.
  • Implement Antimicrobial Stewardship Programmes in line with national strategies.
  • Ensure effective cold chain management for medicines and vaccines.
  • Support the Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) at all levels of care.
  • Improve access to pharmaceutical services by implementing differentiated models of care.
  • Develop and implement policies in accordance with national and provincial frameworks.
  • Compile reports and support audits and compliance monitoring.
  • Participate in relevant forums and provide technical support to health facilities.

What You’ll Need

  • Matric plus an Appropriate Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree (NQF 7) recognized by SAQA.
  • Current registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) for 2026/2027.
  • Minimum of 5 years as a pharmacist post community service, including at least three years of supervisory experience in the public health sector.
  • Valid driver’s license and computer literacy.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies within the health sector.
  • Experience in pharmacovigilance and antimicrobial stewardship is an advantage.
  • Strong management, supervisory, project, communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.

Requirements

Matric plus Appropriate Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree (NQF 7) as recognized by SAQA that allows registration with South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a Pharmacist.

Current registration with South Africa Pharmacy Council (SAPC) (2026/2027).

Designation as an active and practicing pharmacist on the SAPC register.

Minimum 5 years as a pharmacist post community service with at least three years supervisory experience (preferably within the public health sector).

Valid driver's license.

Computer Literacy.

Knowledge And Skills: Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and National Department of Health (NDoH) strategies.

Experience in pharmacovigilance, antimicrobial stewardship, and medicine supply management will be an added advantage.

Management and Supervisory skills.

Knowledge of legislation relating to provision of Pharmaceutical Services.

Experience in pharmacovigilance, antimicrobial stewardship, medicine supply management will be an added advantage.

Project and Communication skills.

Interpersonal and Negotiation skills.

Job Duties

Enhance pharmacovigilance activities across the province to improve patient safety.

Implement Antimicrobial Stewardship Programmes (AMS).

Antimicrobial Stewardship in line with NDoH strategies.

Ensure effective cold chain management for medicines and vaccines and support the Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) across all levels of care.
