About the Role
The Department of Traditional Affairs is looking for a dedicated individual to fill the position of Assistant Director: Skills Development based in Pretoria. This role is crucial for enhancing the capacity of traditional and Khoi-San leadership institutions, thereby playing a significant part in the empowerment of communities across South Africa. The successful candidate will engage directly with various stakeholders to facilitate valuable capacity-building programs that foster growth and development within these vital cultural institutions.
In this position, you will provide essential logistical support and administrative management for the Directorate, ensuring that programs are well-organized and effectively implemented. By developing reports and training schedules, you will contribute to the strategic goals of the Department, helping to strengthen the skills and competencies of traditional leaders and enhancing their ability to serve their communities effectively.

What You’ll Do
- Coordinate and facilitate various capacity-building programs for traditional and Khoi-San leadership institutions.
- Provide logistical support for all capacity-building interventions.
- Develop comprehensive reports and manage administrative functions for the Directorate.
- Compile submissions related to capacity-building initiatives.
- Analyze and consolidate reports from capacity-building interventions.
- Create and maintain training schedules to ensure effective program delivery.
- Assist in the implementation of capacity-building programs and initiatives.
What You’ll Need
- A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Development, Human Resource Management, Development Studies, or a similar qualification at NQF 6/7 as recognized by SAQA.
- Certificates as an Assessor and Moderator, as well as Skills Development Facilitator, are advantageous.
- A valid driver’s license and a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in training and development.
- Multilingual proficiency in South African languages is a plus.
- Proven ability in capacity building, conducting presentations, and report writing.
- Strong presentation skills and extensive travel experience.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software.
- Competencies in project management, problem-solving, planning, and client orientation.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
