The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport is seeking a dedicated individual for the position of Assistant Director: Reporting in Cape Town, Western Cape. What You’ll Do
- Monitor and analyse the expenditure of the sub-directorate’s approved budget and report on spending trends and variances.
- Develop, maintain, and implement the Interim and Annual Financial Statements (IFS and AFS) Action Plan, ensuring compliance with Modified Cash Standards (MCS) and the Accounting Manual for Departments (AMD).
- Manage the preparation and quality review of IFS and AFS, ensuring timely submissions to Provincial Treasury and the Auditor-General.
- Consolidate and validate financial information, ensuring all figures are supported by accurate documentation.
- Review and validate financial reporting templates and policies to ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards.
- Research and interpret updates to accounting standards and guidelines, providing guidance on new financial reporting requirements.
What You’ll Need
- An appropriate 3-year B-Degree in Financial Management at NQF level 7 or higher.
- A minimum of 3 years relevant supervisory experience in a financial role.
- Strong knowledge of policy development and financial norms, including the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
- Proficiency in financial systems and reporting standards, including Modified Cash Standards and the Accounting Manual for Departments.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
