What You’ll Do

  • Coordinate and support provincial programs for older persons and military veterans.
  • Compile and submit mainstreaming and program performance reports.
  • Organize relevant provincial forums, structures, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Facilitate awareness and capacity-building programs focused on the rights and needs of elderly persons and military veterans.
  • Monitor the implementation of applicable legislation, policies, and programs.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with government departments, municipalities, and civil society organizations.
  • Coordinate commemorative events and outreach initiatives, including the Annual General Meeting for Older Persons.
  • Provide administrative and technical support within the unit.
  • Maintain accurate program records and credible supporting evidence.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned by management.

What You’ll Need

  • A three-year tertiary qualification in Social Work, Social Sciences, Public Administration, or a related field at NQF level 6.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a social development environment or Special Programmes unit, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or coordination role.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, Older Persons Act, Social Assistance Act, and Military Veterans Act.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and coordination skills.
  • Problem-solving abilities and competence in decision-making and report-writing.
  • Skills in stakeholder management, conflict resolution, planning, and organizational tasks.

Requirements

Three-year tertiary in Social Work, Social Sciences, Public Administration or related field at NQF level 6 (NQF and credits) 3.

-5 years’ experience in social development environment or Special Programmes unit environment of which 2 years should be at Supervisory /coordination level.

Valid driver’s licence Knowledge, Skills and Competencies: The Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996, Older Persons Act, 2006, Social Assistance Act, 2004, Military Veterans Act, 2011, National policy frameworks relating to ageing, elderly persons and military veterans, Government planning, monitoring and reporting processes.

Job Duties

Coordinate and support provincial programmes for elderly persons and military veterans.

Collate, consolidate and submit mainstreaming and programme performance reports.

Coordinate relevant provincial forums, structures and stakeholder engagements.

Facilitate awareness and capacity-building programmes on the rights and needs of elderly persons and Military veterans.

Monitor the implementation of applicable legislation, policies and programmes.

Establish and maintain partnerships with government departments, municipalities, civil society organizations and other stakeholders.

Coordinate commemorative events, outreach initiatives and the Annual General Meeting for Older Persons.

Provide administrative and technical support within the unit.

Perform any other duties assigned by management.

Salary

R487 197 per annum (Level 09)
