The Department of Transport is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual for the role of Assistant Director: Gender Focal Point and Diversity, based in Pretoria. This position plays a vital role in promoting gender equality and diversity within the public service, helping to create an inclusive environment where all employees can thrive. What You’ll Do
- Coordinate the implementation of Gender and Diversity policies within the Department.
- Develop and compile mandatory Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment plans and reports.
- Organize and provide logistical support for Gender and Diversity Forums and related meetings.
- Plan and execute gender-focused information sessions to address workplace issues.
- Monitor and support outreach initiatives that promote gender equality and inclusion.
- Facilitate capacity-building training, including South Africa Sign Language (SASL) for employees with disabilities.
- Manage the onboarding process for new employees with disabilities and ensure reasonable accommodation measures are in place.
- Develop concept documents for special projects aligned with national calendar days and months.
- Compile monitoring and evaluation reports for special projects and initiatives.
What You’ll Need
- A recognised NQF 6 qualification in Public Administration, Business Administration, Human Resource Management, or related fields.
- A minimum of 3-4 years of relevant experience in transformation programmes, with at least 2 years at a senior practitioner level.
- Strong knowledge of Public Service prescripts, including the Employment Equity Act and the Public Financial Management Act.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on teamwork.
- Proficiency in project planning and management.
- Computer literacy and business writing skills.
- A valid driver’s licence (candidates with disabilities that prevent driving will still be considered).
