About the Opportunity

The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness invites unemployed South African students living in the Western Cape to apply for the Health Bursary Programme 2027. This initiative aims to support students pursuing careers in priority health-related fields, providing financial assistance to help them achieve their educational goals.

Key Responsibilities

Successful bursary recipients will enter into an agreement that includes a work-back obligation. After completing their studies, they will be required to work for the Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness for a specified period. The community service year will count as the first year of this obligation.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Must be a South African citizen residing in the Western Cape
  • Must be unemployed and have completed Matric
  • Must be studying or intending to study full-time in one of the eligible health science qualifications
  • Must be accepted or awaiting acceptance at an accredited Higher Education Institution
  • Willingness to complete required clinical hours and practical training
  • Must have no criminal record
  • Must submit a motivational letter and certified supporting documents

Benefits

The bursary covers registration, tuition, and examination fees, easing the financial burden on students. However, accommodation costs are not included.
