These bursaries are available for both Master’s and Doctoral students, as well as Postgraduate Diploma and Honours students, providing financial support to help them register and complete their qualifications.

Closing Dates

The application period for the 2026 bursaries begins on 15 October 2025 and closes on 19 December 2025. It is crucial for applicants to ensure temporary registration by 31 January 2026 to activate funding.

Key Responsibilities

Applicants are expected to adhere to the application guidelines, including submitting applications online through the myUnisa platform. Master’s and Doctoral students must also ensure their supervisors support their applications on the M&D platform by 31 January 2026.

Requirements/Qualifications

Eligible applicants include returning UNISA students who have previously received funding and new applicants who meet specific academic criteria. Master’s by research candidates can receive up to R55,000 over three years, while Doctoral candidates can receive up to R120,000 over four years. Postgraduate Diploma and Honours bursaries cover tuition fees for up to two years, subject to re-application.
