The Railway Safety Regulator (RSR), established under the Railway Safety Act, 2024, is a national public entity dedicated to promoting, regulating, and enforcing railway safety across South Africa. As part of its mission to foster skills development and uphold safety standards, the RSR offers bursaries to deserving young South Africans. These bursaries support undergraduate studies at TVET Colleges, Universities of Technology, and both Public and Private Universities, focusing on fields that align with the RSR’s operational needs and South Africa’s broader skills development goals.

Key Responsibilities

As a bursary recipient, you will be expected to:

  • Maintain satisfactory academic performance throughout your studies.
  • Participate in interviews and sign a Bursary Agreement if shortlisted.

Requirements/Qualifications

To be eligible for this bursary, applicants must:

  • Be South African citizens aged 15 to 35 years.
  • Not be receiving any other bursary or sponsorship.
  • Be available for an interview if shortlisted.
  • Provide proof of admission or registration for the applicable academic year.
  • Be eligible for the chosen qualification at a recognized higher learning institution.
  • First-year applicants must submit Grade 11 results or Grade 12 mid-term results with a minimum average of 65%.
