About the Opportunity
The University of the Free State is offering a 24-month internship at the Disaster Management Training and Education Centre for Africa (DiMTEC). This program is designed for South African graduates who have completed a master’s degree in Disaster Management or a related field. The internship provides hands-on experience in disaster-risk reduction, climate adaptation, resilience research, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities
Interns will engage in various activities including: assisting with disaster-risk reduction research projects, supporting resilience and climate-adaptation initiatives, conducting literature reviews, collecting and analyzing data, drafting research reports, and preparing policy briefs. Additional duties involve supporting training workshops, seminars, and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.
Requirements/Qualifications
Candidates must hold a master’s degree at NQF Level 9 in Disaster Management or a similar field. They must be South African citizens, aged 18-35, unemployed, and available for the full 24-month program. Previous internship experience is not allowed.
