What You’ll Do

• Coordinate compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations.
• Develop and implement occupational health and safety policies.
• Ensure adherence to OHS standards and regulations within the department.
• Assess and monitor the effectiveness of safety programs.
• Facilitate health and safety awareness for all staff members.
• Investigate and report workplace incidents and accidents.
• Arrange medical surveillance for eligible employees.
• Conduct health and safety inspections and audits, providing recommendations.
• Organize health and safety training for personnel.
• Manage statutory appointments and coordinate provincial OHS Committee meetings.
• Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual OHS reports.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding OHS matters.
• Develop emergency evacuation plans and facilitate drills.
• Supervise subordinates and promote a safety culture within the department.

What You’ll Need

• National Senior Certificate coupled with a National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Management, Industrial Sociology, or Occupational Hygiene.
• Registration with SAIOSH or SAIOH is required.
• Valid driver’s license.
• A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in an Occupational Health and Safety environment.
• Strong knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and related regulations.
• Proficiency in incident investigation, hazard identification, and risk assessment.
• Familiarity with government legislation regarding health and safety.
• Excellent computer literacy using MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including report writing.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
• Willingness to work long hours and travel extensively.
• Flexibility and determination to implement policies effectively.
