The Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning is excited to welcome a dedicated Senior Field Ranger to the Goegap Nature Reserve. What You’ll Do
- Conduct nature conservation patrols to ensure the protection of the reserve.
- Inspect and repair boundary fences to maintain security within the reserve.
- Warn visitors of unauthorized actions and report non-compliance issues.
- Assist with fire management services, including maintaining fire belts and conducting block burns.
- Monitor ecological processes, habitats, and biodiversity in the reserve.
- Collect and report biological and ecological data, identifying areas for rehabilitation.
- Oversee the control and monitoring of recreational activities and maintain related facilities.
- Facilitate educational programs and presentations for visitors to promote the reserve’s value.
- Perform administrative tasks related to field ranger responsibilities, including writing reports and issuing permits.
What You’ll Need
- A Grade 12 Certificate with at least 3 years of experience in a Field Ranger environment.
- A valid Code EB driver’s license.
- Computer literacy is advantageous.
- Completion of the EMI course with designation as a Grade 5 EMI official is required after appointment.
