What You’ll Do

  • Handle documents and information with strict confidentiality.
  • Check and authorize salary-related transaction claims, including overtime and sessional allowances.
  • Control the instating of garnishee orders and cancellation of deductions for insurance policies.
  • Verify local and foreign travel and subsistence claims.
  • Oversee salary claims payments and ensure accurate distribution of PERSAL Item Analysis reports.
  • Manage leave and lump sum payments, and control the compilation of monthly BAS/PERSAL reconciliations.
  • Follow up and resubmit PERSAL exceptions on BAS.
  • Check and approve salary-related debt calculations and transactions.
  • Control PAYE for the department, including monthly and annual tax reconciliations.
  • Respond to enquiries related to salary administration functions.
  • Supervise the performance of subordinates, ensuring effective work allocation and office discipline.

What You’ll Need

  • Senior Certificate / Grade 12 plus six years of relevant experience in Human Resource Management or Salary Administration, or a Diploma/Degree (NQF Level 6/7) in Finance/Public Administration/Public Management with three years of relevant experience.
  • At least three years’ experience in roles such as Chief Administration Clerk, Administrative Officer, or Personnel Practitioner.
  • Extensive knowledge of the PERSAL System and completion of a minimum of three PERSAL courses.
  • Understanding of PFMA and Treasury Regulations, as well as the Basic Accounting System (BAS).
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written), problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in computer literacy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Assertiveness and the capacity to work under pressure.
  • A valid driver’s license.
