The Department of Police Oversight and Community Safety is excited to announce a vacancy for the position of Senior Administrative Officer: Community Police Relations in Cape Town, Western Cape. This role is pivotal in fostering and maintaining strong relationships between the Department and various safety partners, including Community Police Forums (CPFs), Neighbourhood Watch (NHWs), and the South African Police Services (SAPS). By supporting these collaborations, you will contribute to creating safer communities and enhancing public safety initiatives that directly impact the lives of residents.

In this role, you will be directly involved in administering the Community Safety funding system and conducting assessments on the functionality of safety partners. Your efforts will ensure that communication channels between stakeholders remain robust and effective, ultimately promoting a safer environment for all citizens. What You’ll Do

  • Support and maintain relationships with safety partners, including CPFs, NHWs, and SAPS.
  • Administer the Community Safety funding system efficiently.
  • Conduct formal assessments to evaluate the functionality of safety partners such as Community Safety Forums.
  • Facilitate effective communication between safety partners and stakeholders.
  • Perform managerial and supervisory functions as needed.

What You’ll Need

  • A relevant 3-year National Diploma or B-Degree (equivalent or higher).
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • A valid (Code B or higher) driving license; candidates with disabilities that restrict driving abilities but have reasonable access to transport may also apply.
  • Knowledge of legislation, regulatory frameworks, and best practices related to community safety.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
