What You’ll Do

  • Conduct assessment studies to identify data gaps in water quality planning.
  • Utilize predictive modeling tools for forward planning of water resources.
  • Implement the National Water Act, focusing on classifying water resources and setting quality objectives.
  • Review and recommend scientific projects related to water management.
  • Provide input on water use license applications for various sectors, including mining and agriculture.
  • Conduct site inspections and participate in stakeholder meetings.
  • Promote surface and groundwater protection through the water use authorization process.
  • Manage waste discharge systems and surface water data.
  • Assist in drafting specific water quality license conditions.
  • Collect and analyze surface water data for monitoring purposes.

What You’ll Need

  • A Science degree (BSc) (Hon) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or a relevant qualification.
  • A minimum of three years of post-qualification experience in a related field.
  • Compulsory registration with SACNASP as a Professional Natural Scientist.
  • Valid unexpired driver’s license.
  • Sound knowledge of integrated water resource management.
  • Understanding of the water resource classification system and its applications.
  • Project management experience is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal and report writing.
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Willingness to work under pressure and travel nationwide.
