What You’ll Do

  • Research, write, and produce high-quality news articles, feature stories, and speeches for various media platforms.
  • Cover government programs, events, and community engagements throughout the province.
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting on the initiatives of the Premier and the Provincial Government.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with media houses and stakeholders to enhance information dissemination.
  • Contribute to content creation for newsletters, websites, and social media channels.
  • Monitor media coverage and compile reports analyzing public sentiment.
  • Support crisis communication efforts and rapid response messaging as needed.
  • Ensure all communication is consistent with government policies and branding guidelines.

What You’ll Need

  • A three-year tertiary qualification in Journalism, Communication, Media Studies at NQF level 6, or a related field.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in journalism, reporting, or corporate communication, with at least one year in a supervisory role.
  • A valid Driver’s License.
  • Strong interpersonal engagement skills and attention to detail.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to public service.
  • Proficiency in computer literacy and awareness of current affairs in print and social media.
  • Excellent journalistic writing, investigative, and reporting skills, along with effective news gathering and interview techniques.
