What You’ll Do

  • Study and evaluate case dockets to determine the viability of prosecuting criminal cases.
  • Decide on the institution of criminal proceedings and conduct prosecutions in court.
  • Draft charge sheets and other essential legal documents for cases.
  • Represent the State in all court appearances, leading witnesses and presenting cases effectively.
  • Engage in cross-examinations and address the court regarding convictions and sentencing.
  • Perform general administrative duties to support the office and prosecution process.
  • Foster partnerships and community involvement to enhance customer satisfaction within the criminal justice system.
  • Adhere to all policies, directives, and the Code of Conduct established by the NPA.

What You’ll Need

  • An LLB degree or an appropriate legal qualification for serving prosecutors seeking promotion.
  • A minimum of four years of post-qualification legal experience.
  • Proven ability to act independently, professionally, and accountably within a legal framework.
  • Experience guiding investigations and providing instructions in law and statutory offences in regional court.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, presentation, and project management skills.
  • A valid driver’s license is essential.
