About the Role
The Department of Health is seeking committed Porters for five positions at the Uitenhage Provincial Hospital, located in the vibrant Nelson Mandela Metro. What You’ll Do
- Wheel patients to and from wards, ensuring their comfort and safety during transport
- Transport patients to various service areas, including operating theatres and emergency units
- Collect and transport corpses to the mortuary with care and respect
- Deliver equipment, stores, and documentation to appropriate wards and departments
- Collect and deliver specimens as needed to support hospital operations
- Assist in offloading patients from ambulances and private vehicles to stretchers
- Clean stretchers and wheelchairs after use to maintain hygiene standards
- Report broken or faulty equipment to supervisors promptly
- Maintain accurate records related to the handling of corpses and equipment
- Ensure proper identification and accuracy of records in your area of responsibility
What You’ll Need
- NQF level 3 (Grade 10 certificate or equivalent)
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to work shifts and under pressure in a dynamic environment
- Sound knowledge of customer care principles
