What You’ll Do

  • Provide assessments and treatments for patients in various wards, including High Care and Intensive Care units.
  • Manage departmental administration and patient care documentation.
  • Oversee the management of assets within your allocated work area.
  • Mentor and supervise undergraduate students in a clinical setting.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient treatment plans.
  • Address complex patient needs under pressure while ensuring high standards of care.

What You’ll Need

  • An appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Physiotherapist.
  • Registration with the HPCSA as a Physiotherapist.
  • Relevant experience based on the Grade level (Grade 1: None or 1-year for foreign qualified; Grade 2: 10 years; Grade 3: 20 years).
  • Strong knowledge of health legislation and public service policies.
  • Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Clinical experience in an acute or tertiary hospital setting, with an ability to work independently.
  • Computer literacy and the capacity to work under extreme pressure.

Requirements

Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Physiotherapist.

Registration with a professional council: Registration with the HPCSA as a Physiotherapist.

Experience: Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA in respect of RSA-qualified employees.

1-year relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Physiotherapist in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa.

Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Physiotherapist in respect of RSA-qualified employees.

A Minimum of 11 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA a Physiotherapist in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa.

Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Physiotherapist in respect of RSA- qualified employees.

A minimum of 21 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Physiotherapist in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa.

Inherent requirements of the job: Ability to work after hours for ERAS (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery) calls.

Willingness to work overtime.

Competencies (knowledge/skills): Knowledge of applicable health legislation, relevant Acts and Public Service Policies and Procedures.

Good problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills.

Appropriate, clinical experience as a Physiotherapist in an acute and specialist/tertiary hospital setting.

Ability to supervise undergraduate students in a tertiary setting.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to work within MDT.

Ability to problem solve, organise and prioritise patient treatments/discharge plans.

Ability to work under extreme pressure.

Computer literacy.

Job Duties

Assess and treat patients in Trauma, Oncology, Maternity, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedic, Acute Spinal Cord Injuries, OPD, Medical, Surgical, Cardiothoracic wards as well as High Care and Intensive Care units associated with these wards.

Be responsible for administration related to patient care as well as departmental administration.

Management of assets in allocated work area.

Assist in the clinical teaching/supervision of undergraduate students.

Salary

Grade 1: R413 121 per annum Grade 2: R482 499 per annum Grade 3: R564 822 per annum
