The Department of Health is seeking dedicated individuals for the position of Medical Officer Grade 1 to 3 at Vredenburg Hospital, located in the picturesque town of Saldanha Bay. What You’ll Do
- Ensure effective health services for all patients at a district-level hospital.
- Assist the Clinical Manager with clinical administration, including forensic task completion.
- Provide comprehensive clinical services in wards, casualty, outpatient departments, theatre, and clinics.
- Supervise and assist with the training of under- and postgraduate medical personnel.
- Engage in Community Orientated Primary Care (COPC) initiatives.
- Participate in compulsory commuted overtime services on a rotational basis.
What You’ll Need
- An appropriate qualification for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Practitioner.
- Valid registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner.
- Relevant experience:
- Grade 1: No experience required post-registration for SA qualified employees; 1-year relevant experience for foreign qualified employees.
- Grade 2: Minimum of 5 years appropriate experience post-registration for SA qualified employees; 6 years for foreign qualified employees.
- Grade 3: Minimum of 10 years appropriate experience post-registration for SA qualified employees; 11 years for foreign qualified employees.
- A valid (Code B/EB) driver’s license.
- Willingness to assist in clinics within the Saldanha Sub-District.
- Strong decision-making abilities and collaborative skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, along with leadership and conflict resolution capabilities.
- Basic computer skills in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and protocols of the Department of Health.
