What You’ll Do

• Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments and treatments for patients.
• Formulate and implement individualized treatment plans, including medication management.
• Manage emergency cases in the district hospital’s Emergency Centre, including psychiatric and medical emergencies.
• Maintain accurate patient records and complete all necessary medical and legal documentation.
• Refer patients to specialists and other healthcare providers as required.
• Participate in continuous professional development activities to maintain HPCSA registration.
• Uphold the ethical standards of the medical profession and contribute positively to the hospital environment.

What You’ll Need

• Appropriate qualification for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Practitioner.
• Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner.
• Relevant experience as follows:
• Grade 1: None required post-registration for SA-qualified practitioners; 1-year relevant experience for foreign-qualified practitioners.
• Grade 2: Minimum of 5 years appropriate experience post-registration for SA-qualified practitioners; 6 years for foreign-qualified practitioners.
• Grade 3: Minimum of 10 years appropriate experience post-registration for SA-qualified practitioners; 11 years for foreign-qualified practitioners.
• Willingness to work shifts and manage patients with infectious diseases.
• Valid (Code B/EB) driver’s license and ability to travel.
• Strong clinical consultation, management, and procedural skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
