What You’ll Do

  • Provide strategic leadership and operational management of health services at Khayelitsha District Hospital.
  • Ensure effective collaboration and service alignment with Primary Health Care facilities within the Khayelitsha Substructure.
  • Manage clinical, clinical support, and allied health services while overseeing financial and human resource operations.
  • Coordinate the provision of clinical services, including forensic services, to meet community health needs.
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, including nursing staff and facilities management, to enhance service delivery.
  • Support training, development, and research initiatives to promote a culture of continuous improvement in healthcare services.

What You’ll Need

  • An appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Practitioner.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Medical Officer after registration with the HPCSA.
  • A valid Code B/EB/C1 driver’s license and willingness to travel.
  • Competence in managing health services with strong business orientation and clinical management skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, and Email.

Requirements

Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as Medical Practitioner.

Registration with a professional council: Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner.

Experience: A minimum of 3-year appropriate experience as Medical Officer after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner.

Inherent requirements of the job: A valid (Code B/EB/C1) driver’s licence and willingness to travel.

Willingness and skills to do after hour’s clinical work.

Competencies (knowledge/skills): Strong business orientation with proven skills and abilities in the clinical management of a health service.

Proven management competencies in a health-care environment.

Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet and Email).

Appropriate experience of managing clinical and allied health services.

Job Duties

(Key result areas/outputs): Provide strategic and operational leadership and management of health services at Khayelitsha Hospital, ensuring effective collaboration, integration and service alignment with Primary Health Care (PHC) facilities within the Khayelitsha Substructure.

Management and governance of clinical and clinical support services/allied health services.

Effective, efficient, and sustainable management of finances and supply chain processes, human resources, and non-clinical support services.

Display competence, accountability, innovation, responsiveness etc.

in mitigating service pressures as determined by rampant social determinants of health in Khayelitsha.

Coordinate provision of clinical services at the hospital including forensic services.

Involved in training and development and research support.

Forge good relations with other key role-players/stakeholders internally and externally; nursing, facilities management, and ensure good management of all consultants as well as PHC,CBS/NPOs/Step down facilities and support COPC approach and work towards strengthening DH system.

Salary

Grade 1: R1 479 723 per annum, (A portion of the package can be structured according to the individual's personal needs.) 172
