What You’ll Do

  • Perform screening and diagnostic mammography examinations.
  • Assist the Radiologist in conducting invasive mammography procedures, including breast biopsies.
  • Ensure exemplary patient care and educate patients about their examinations.
  • Produce high-quality mammography images for diagnostic evaluation.
  • Maintain high standards of mammography positioning and exposure techniques.
  • Manage quality assurance related to mammography services.
  • Implement correct radiation protection practices to minimize exposure for patients and staff.
  • Compile necessary statistics and documentation related to examinations.
  • Adhere to infection control and safety guidelines.
  • Care for x-ray equipment and supplies.
  • Conduct general radiographic examinations, including CT scans and fluoroscopy.
  • Render after-hours radiology services as required.
  • Engage in continuous professional development programs.

What You’ll Need

  • Senior Certificate / Grade 12 and an appropriate qualification for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) in Radiography.
  • Current registration with the HPCSA in one of the following: Nuclear Medicine Radiography, Radiation Oncology Radiography, Ultrasound Radiography, or Mammography Radiography.
  • A minimum of four years’ experience as a Diagnostic Radiographer post-registration with the HPCSA.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong organizational skills to complete examinations efficiently.
  • Understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
  • Proficiency in performing a high volume of mammography examinations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with public service regulations, acts, and policies.
