What You’ll Do
- Conduct quality assurance of driver/operator systems to ensure compliance and safety.
- Operate specialized plant and heavy equipment effectively and safely.
- Implement best practices for driver/operator systems to enhance operational efficiency.
- Perform daily roadworthy inspections and ensure vehicles are serviced on time.
- Analyze logistics operations to optimize transportation routes and processes.
- Transport work teams and materials/equipment to various sites.
- Maintain accurate records of trips, fuel consumption, and equipment usage.
- Inspect vehicles and equipment for visible defects and report major issues for repair.
- Assist with maintenance and construction work at gauging stations as needed.
- Ensure adherence to safety procedures and maintain cleanliness at work sites.
What You’ll Need
- An NQF level 4 qualification.
- A valid Code EC/EC1 driver’s license with a valid PDP.
- Certified competency or operating certificate for heavy plant/machinery.
- At least five years of experience in driving heavy motor vehicles and operating heavy equipment.
- Good mechanical knowledge of heavy vehicles and machinery.
- Understanding of traffic and road safety regulations.
- Basic knowledge of departmental transport policies and procedures.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
- Integrity and discretion in all tasks.
