What You’ll Do
- Perform electro-mechanical repairs and routine maintenance on medical equipment.
- Conduct inspections and quality assurance testing to evaluate equipment serviceability.
- Manage acceptance inspections for new or donated equipment and communicate any issues to your supervisor.
- Maintain accurate records of service history, inventory, and expenditure.
- Supervise daily operations and distribute work among staff effectively.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior technicians.
- Draft specifications and preventative maintenance schedules for equipment.
- Respond to after-hour service calls and emergency repairs as needed.
- Liaise with hospital staff and external representatives to ensure equipment compliance and functionality.
What You’ll Need
- A National Diploma (T, S, or N Stream in Light Current Electrical Engineering) or a B-Tech degree in Electronic or Mechanical Engineering.
- Proven experience in the repair and maintenance of medical imaging equipment, specifically X-ray machines.
- A valid Code B (Code 08) driver’s license is essential.
- Strong technical service and repair skills in electronics, electrical systems, and mechanical components.
- Proficient in using various hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of 1993.
