What You’ll Do

• Perform electro-mechanical repairs and routine maintenance on medical equipment.
• Conduct inspections and quality assurance testing to evaluate equipment serviceability.
• Manage acceptance inspections for new or donated equipment and communicate any issues to your supervisor.
• Maintain accurate records of service history, inventory, and expenditure.
• Supervise daily operations and distribute work among staff effectively.
• Provide training and mentorship to junior technicians.
• Draft specifications and preventative maintenance schedules for equipment.
• Respond to after-hour service calls and emergency repairs as needed.
• Liaise with hospital staff and external representatives to ensure equipment compliance and functionality.

What You’ll Need

• A National Diploma (T, S, or N Stream in Light Current Electrical Engineering) or a B-Tech degree in Electronic or Mechanical Engineering.
• Proven experience in the repair and maintenance of medical imaging equipment, specifically X-ray machines.
• A valid Code B (Code 08) driver’s license is essential.
• Strong technical service and repair skills in electronics, electrical systems, and mechanical components.
• Proficient in using various hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of 1993.
