What You’ll Do

  • Perform maintenance, repairs, calibration, modifications, and installations of medical electronic equipment.
  • Train junior technicians and equipment users on operational and safety procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, safety, and quality requirements set by manufacturers and statutory bodies.
  • Handle administrative tasks as required by the Clinical Engineering Department and adhere to health technology regulations.
  • Liaise effectively with hospital and private sector staff, providing support and reporting to the workshop manager.
  • Manage workshop activities in the absence of the supervisor, ensuring smooth operations across all Clinical Engineering disciplines.

What You’ll Need

  • National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (T, S, or N stream), National Diploma in Mechatronics, or registration as an Engineering Technician as per the Engineering Profession of South Africa Act.
  • Relevant experience in the maintenance, repair, and installation of electronic or medical equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license (Code B/EB) and willingness to travel throughout the Western Cape.
  • Strong knowledge of health technology principles and ability to compile technical specifications for medical equipment.
  • Excellent fault-finding skills and proficiency in written and verbal communication.
  • Computer literacy, including MS Word and Excel, along with advanced planning and organizing skills for maintenance schedules.
