What You’ll Do
- Prepare ingredients for meals, including cleaning and cutting vegetables and preparing meats.
- Cook and process ingredients according to dietary plans and menus.
- Serve food in appropriate crockery, ensuring adherence to dietary allowances.
- Pack and deliver food trolleys to designated areas within the hospital.
- Maintain a clean and hygienic food service environment, including washing used cutlery and crockery.
- Perform quality checks to ensure that hygiene standards are met and report any issues to supervisors.
What You’ll Need
- NQF Level 1 or 2 (or ABET Level 2 certificate or equivalent).
- Basic knowledge of food services and food preparation techniques.
- Understanding of health and safety measures related to food handling.
- Basic literacy skills and the ability to operate food processing equipment.
- Capacity to measure ingredients accurately and follow instructions.
