What You’ll Do
- Follow menus and special dietary plans to prepare meals.
- Clean and cut vegetables and prepare various food items like meat, poultry, and fish.
- Cook prepared ingredients and serve meals using appropriate crockery.
- Ensure portions are in line with dietary allowances.
- Pack and deliver food trolleys to specific areas in the hospital.
- Maintain hygiene by collecting used cutlery and crockery from service areas.
- Perform quality checks for cleanliness and proper equipment storage.
- Regularly clean food processing areas and ensure safety standards are upheld.
- Report any hygiene or safety concerns to your supervisor.
What You’ll Need
- NQF level 1 or 2 (ABET level 2 certificate or equivalent).
- Basic knowledge of food services and food preparation.
- Understanding of food processing equipment operation.
- Familiarity with health and safety measures in a kitchen environment.
- Basic literacy and the ability to measure ingredients accurately.
- A valid driver’s license will be advantageous.
