What You’ll Do
- Render catering services by following menus and special diet plans.
- Prepare ingredients for meals, including cleaning and cutting vegetables, and preparing meat, poultry, and fish.
- Cook and process prepared ingredients for consumption.
- Serve meals in the appropriate crockery while adhering to dietary allowances.
- Pack food delivery trolleys and ensure meals are delivered to the correct areas within the hospital.
- Maintain a safe and hygienic environment by collecting used cutlery and crockery and ensuring they are properly cleaned.
- Conduct quality checks to ensure cleaning standards are met and report any unhygienic situations to a supervisor.
What You’ll Need
- NQF level 1 or 2 (ABET level 2 certificate or equivalent) with no prior experience required.
- Basic knowledge of food services and food preparation techniques.
- Familiarity with operating food processing equipment and understanding basic health and safety measures.
- Awareness of hygiene practices and bacterial contamination control.
- Ability to measure ingredients accurately and communicate effectively.
