About the Role
The Department of Education is seeking dedicated individuals for the position of Employee Health & Wellness Practitioner in various locations, including Mopani East District and Capricorn South District, among others. This role is pivotal in enhancing the well-being of employees within the education sector in South Africa. By providing vital health and wellness support, you will contribute directly to the productivity and morale of staff, ensuring they can perform at their best for the students and communities they serve.
As an Employee Health & Wellness Practitioner, you will play a significant part in implementing programs that address crucial health issues such as HIV, STIs, and TB. What You’ll Do
- Provide HIV counselling and peer support services to employees and their families.
- Implement programs addressing HIV, STIs, and TB.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of health initiatives for stakeholders.
- Facilitate wellness management programs and provide psychosocial support in individual and group settings.
- Coordinate trauma debriefing and manage grief or crisis situations following emergencies.
- Organize information sessions, workshops, and health campaigns focused on stress management, mental health, and nutrition.
- Promote physical wellness initiatives and advocate for healthy lifestyle choices.
- Prepare and compile monthly, quarterly, and annual health reports for the district.
What You’ll Need
- An NQF level 7 qualification in Social Work or Psychology as recognized by SAQA.
- A qualification or course in Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) or HIV will be advantageous.
- A minimum of 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in Employee Health and Wellness or a related field.
- Registration with a professional body such as the South African Council for Social Service Profession (SACSSP) or Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
- A valid driver’s license, except for persons with disabilities.
- Knowledge of the Employee Health and Wellness Strategic Framework and the National Strategic Plan on HIV, STIs, and TB.
- Skills in project management, reporting, and presentations, along with functional computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
