What You’ll Do

• Manage the regravelling of roads in designated areas.
• Identify and plan for areas that require immediate attention.
• Coordinate and facilitate the work on-site, ensuring projects run smoothly.
• Prepare quarry sites and oversee stockpiling of gravel.
• Conduct assessments of completed work to ensure quality standards are met.
• Manage the construction of drainage structures and identify areas needing drainage.
• Quantify materials required for projects accurately.
• Conduct environmental assessments of all working areas before commencing work.
• Inspect installations and maintenance of drainage systems.
• Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation.
• Investigate and report on any accidents or incidents.
• Maintain communication with the OHS unit regarding potential hazards.
• Manage resources effectively, including personnel, finances, and equipment.
• Report on equipment utilization and maintenance.
• Evaluate the performance of subordinates and facilitate their development.

What You’ll Need

• Grade 12 / Matric certificate and NQF level 6 in Civil Engineering as recognized by SAQA.
• Three (3) years of experience at a supervisory level in a roads maintenance environment.
• A valid driver’s license (except for applicants with disabilities).
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to make informed decisions and lead a team effectively.
• Creativity and financial management capabilities.
• Excellent communication and computer skills.
• Understanding of public service acts, regulations, and frameworks.
