What You’ll Do

  • Provide comprehensive support services for Parliamentary matters, including portfolio-specific committees and Cabinet discussions.
  • Coordinate multiple concurrent workstreams and monitor deadlines to ensure timely submissions across the Department.
  • Facilitate departmental interactions with Parliamentary Committees, adhering to the Parliamentary programme.
  • Render administrative and technical support for departmental delegations during Parliamentary briefings and meetings.
  • Draft, assure quality, and submit departmental responses to questions posed to the Minister of Home Affairs.
  • Manage the drafting and finalisation of Cabinet memoranda for consideration by Cabinet.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant processes and timeframes for Parliamentary and Cabinet interactions.
  • Monitor the implementation of decisions made by Cabinet and relevant Committees, escalating any risks or delays.
  • Drive the implementation of Batho Pele principles, ensuring quality service delivery.
  • Develop and review policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with audit and legislative requirements.
  • Plan and manage the production of annual reports in line with corporate strategies.
  • Oversee effective management of human, physical, and financial resources within the unit.

What You’ll Need

  • An undergraduate qualification in Political Sciences, Public Management and Administration, or a related field at NQF level 6.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience at Junior Management or Assistant Director level.
  • Strong understanding of Portfolio and Cabinet Committees, and knowledge of foreign policies.
  • Familiarity with Intergovernmental Relations framework and relevant regulations, including the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regularly between Tshwane and Cape Town.
  • Exceptional organisational, communication, and analytical skills, with a strong sense of accountability.
