About the Role
The Department of Finance is seeking a Deputy Director – Financial Monitoring & Reporting based at the Head Office in Mahikeng. This vital role plays a significant part in ensuring the financial integrity of public service in South Africa. What You’ll Do
- Compile and submit interim and annual financial statements in accordance with Modified Cash Standards and guidelines from the National Treasury.
- Maintain and monitor registers for irregular, fruitless, and wasteful expenditures, as well as accruals and payable accounts.
- Prepare financial statements and supporting documents for audits and record-keeping purposes.
- Generate statutory monthly reports to the Accounting Officer and/or Provincial Treasury.
- Address audit-related matters promptly and ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Liaise with customers, stakeholders, and suppliers to facilitate financial processes.
- Consolidate Annual Financial Statements (AFS) and district financial reports.
- Prepare various financial reports such as In-Year Monitoring (IYM) and Interim Reporting Model (IRM).
- Manage the sub-directorate and oversee its functions effectively.
What You’ll Need
- National Senior Certificate and a Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in Financial Accounting or Commerce.
- 3-5 years of relevant middle management experience in Financial Reporting, particularly in preparing Annual Financial Statements.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Thorough knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Treasury Regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and accounting systems such as BAS and WALKER.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to solve problems and make decisions under pressure.
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and reporting skills, with a keen attention to detail.
