What You’ll Do

  • Manage the appointment processes for both nominated candidates and contract employees, including extensions and developmental program placements.
  • Oversee promotions, transfers, and acting appointments within the Western Cape Government.
  • Provide compensation management services, addressing salary matters and resolving over or under payments.
  • Participate in the recruitment and selection of staff, ensuring a fair and effective hiring process.
  • Lead and motivate your team, providing training and guidance to enhance their performance.
  • Monitor and evaluate staff performance, implementing improved practices and rewarding achievements.
  • Maintain sound labour relations and discipline within the team.
  • Manage budgetary tasks and provide strategic direction regarding HR policies.

What You’ll Need

  • An appropriate 3-year tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Public Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of middle management experience in a human resource management environment.
  • Knowledge of national and provincial HR legislation, including the Public Service Amendment Act and Labour Relations Act.
  • Strong people management skills and excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, along with skills in monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
  • Ability to analyse data, conceptualise policies, and implement strategic HR initiatives.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively.
