About the Role
The Department of Health is seeking passionate Clinical Psychologist Interns for 14 positions based at various hospitals, including Groote Schuur Hospital and Tygerberg Hospital in Cape Town. What You’ll Do
- Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments for inpatients and outpatients.
- Provide psychological treatment and support for a range of psychiatric conditions.
- Formulate and document treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Engage in outreach programs to district and community health clinics.
- Participate in ward work across various psychiatric diagnoses and medical wards.
- Conduct psychometric assessments, including neuro-psychological and personality evaluations.
- Manage clinical administrative tasks related to patient care.
- Contribute to the academic training program of the Clinical Psychology departments.
What You’ll Need
- An Honours degree in Psychology.
- Successful completion of the theoretical part of the Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology.
- Registration with the Health Professionals Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Clinical Psychology Intern by 1 January 2027.
- Achievement of training standards set by the HPCSA and SA Professional Board of Psychology.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work accurately under pressure and maintain professionalism.
- Basic computer literacy.
