About the Role
The Department of Health is seeking a Chief Quantity Surveyor Grade A to join its team at the Provincial Office in Mbombela, also known as Nelspruit. This pivotal role is centered around enhancing infrastructure development within the province, contributing significantly to the community’s well-being and access to health services. What You’ll Do
- Lead infrastructure programme and project planning in accordance with the Infrastructure Delivery Management System (IDMS).
- Oversee the implementation and monitoring of infrastructure projects.
- Conduct research and literature reviews to assess new technologies and their feasibility for geographical information management within the department.
- Manage project commissioning and ensure thorough evaluation of infrastructure programmes.
- Administer effective resource management and financial oversight for projects.
- Collaborate with professional development boards and councils to enhance project outcomes.
What You’ll Need
- Senior Certificate / Grade 12 and a recognized (NQF Level 7) qualification in Quantity Surveying.
- A minimum of six years’ post-qualification experience, including mandatory experience as a registered professional.
- Current registration with the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession (SACQSP) as a Quantity Surveyor.
- A valid driver’s license and proficiency in computer literacy.
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation including the Construction Industry Development Board Act and other essential procurement regulations.

Requirements
Senior Certificate / Grade 12 plus (NQF Level 7) in Quantity Surveying as recognized by SAQA.Six (6) years’ experience post qualification plus Compulsory Six (6) years’ experience as a registered professional.
Current registration with the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession (SACQSP) as Quantity Surveyor (2026).
A valid driver’s licence.
