What You’ll Do

  • Conduct final reviews and approvals or audits on project designs, ensuring adherence to design principles.
  • Coordinate design efforts across various disciplines to integrate current technology.
  • Maintain operational effectiveness throughout project lifecycles.
  • Manage the execution of project management strategies by establishing appropriate structures and systems.
  • Set project standards and specifications in line with organizational objectives.
  • Oversee financial management to ensure funds meet the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) objectives.
  • Implement construction projects in compliance with National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC) standards.
  • Manage a portfolio of operational capital projects to align resources with departmental needs.
  • Monitor and control budgetary expenditure for efficient cash flow management.
  • Provide technical consulting services to minimize project risks and enhance operational performance.
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinates, ensuring alignment with departmental goals.

What You’ll Need

  • National Senior Certificate and a National Higher Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related qualification in the built environment.
  • A minimum of six (6) years of post-qualification project management experience in construction, with a preference for road construction experience.
  • Professional registration as a Professional Construction Project Manager with the South African Council for Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP).
  • A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Public Finance Management Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Strong planning, financial, and budget management skills.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, decision-making, and conflict management skills.
  • Proven ability in project management, technical report writing, and resource allocation.
