The Department of Health is seeking an Assistant Manager: Nursing: Maternal Health to join its dynamic team based at the Corporate Office in Bloemfontein. What You’ll Do
- Supervise and coordinate effective patient care in maternal health settings.
- Monitor and analyze trends related to morbidity and mortality in maternal and perinatal care.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with inter-professional and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Initiate and participate in health promotion activities to ensure accurate communication of health information.
- Manage resources effectively to enhance service delivery in line with departmental goals.
- Contribute to the formulation and implementation of health guidelines, practices, and standards.
What You’ll Need
- A Basic R425 qualification (Diploma/Degree in Nursing) with valid registration as a Registered Nurse with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (R174 for Professional Nurse and Midwife) is preferred.
- Postgraduate qualification in healthcare management or nursing administration.
- At least 8 years of nursing experience post-registration, with a minimum of 3 years at management level.
- A valid driver’s license and proven experience in the relevant field.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to monitor healthcare trends effectively.

Requirements
Basic R425 qualification i.e.
Diploma/degree in nursing registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse in General Nursing or a 4-year Bachelor’s Degree in nursing (R174 that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse and Midwife.
Post graduate qualification in Health care management/ nursing administration.
Current registration with South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
A minimum of 8 years appropriate / recognizable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
At least 3 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate / recognizable experience at management level.
Recognizable experience in the field/program applied for.
Valid drivers licence.
Knowledge And Skills: Monitor and analyse morbidity and mortality trends in material and perinatal care.
DUTES : Supervise and coordinate the provision of effective and efficient patient care through adequate health care.
Initiate and participate in health promotion ensure consistent communication of relevant, accurate and comprehensive information on health care.
Develop / establish and maintain constructive working relationships with relevant stakeholders (i.
e.
inter-professional, inter- sectoral and multi-disciplinary teams).
Participate in the analysis, formulation and implementation of / health guidelines, practices, standards and procedures.
Manage and ensure effective utilization of resources.
