About the Role
The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure is seeking a dedicated Artisan Production Grade A – C (Welder) to join their team at the Usutu Vaal Area Office in Standerton. What You’ll Do
- Perform general mechanical maintenance on pumps and other equipment.
- Execute welding and brazing tasks as needed.
- Inspect equipment for technical faults and implement repairs according to standards.
- Service equipment according to a predefined schedule.
- Ensure quality assurance in line with specifications and safety regulations.
- Implement planned maintenance and maintain accurate maintenance logbooks.
- Manage tools and materials effectively to ensure optimal use.
- Compile and submit technical and performance reports as required.
- Supervise and mentor junior staff, fostering their development.
- Stay updated with new technologies to enhance personal and professional growth.
What You’ll Need
- An Appropriate Trade Test Certificate in welding.
- Valid unexpired driver’s license.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of production processes and technical report writing skills.
- Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS).
- Basic computer literacy and good communication skills.
- Capability to work long hours and perform standby duties as needed.
- Strong technical analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel as required for job functions.
